Feng Shui

Change
appears to be the only constant nowadays. Ever wonder at some point of
your life whether you should make the career switch, commit to a
relationship or take that investment plunge? As Spencer Johnson puts
it "Enjoy change" and you would emerge from the journey a richer person.
I believe that an understanding of self is instrumental to the change
process. To this end, BaZi which is an ancient Chinese
art, offers a powerful means of analyzing the various elements under an
individual's "zodiac" sign. On the other hand, feng shui, another
ancient Chinese art, allows us to influence the surrounding or environment
we are in to create a harmonious interplay of
Qi (energy). This would in turn lead to a state of physical and
mental well-being. Inherent in the principles of feng shui is the
balancing of opposites or the
Yin (negative qi) against the Yang(positive
qi).
Contrary to the common dismissal that palm reading, face reading,
Bazi or Feng Shui are mere
superstitions, many of these principles are in fact based on empirical
observations. Consider feng shui for example. Looking around,
the workings of our day to day revolve around the fundamentals of opposing
elements. Based on the law of physics, a car moves forward because its
fuel emission generates sufficient energy to overcome the weight of the car
and its resistance. Emotionally, we've all experienced moments of
happiness and sadness. Nutritionally, if the energy from the food we
eat exceeds the energy we use up in our physical activities, we gain weight.
Biologically, male and female hormones coexist in both men and women but in
varying levels.
Taking this argument a little further, there is no reason why we can't
dress, furnish nor make major life changes to better integrate the elements
we are born with.
